CLOSING DATE: NOON - SEPTEMBER 7, 2021

This position reports directly to the General Manager of Finance Services / CFO and is responsible to provide administrative and accounting support to the Finance, Revenue and Purchasing areas. This position is responsible in providing excellent customer service at the front desk, preparing and proofreading financial documents, coordinating the schedule and administrative functions of the Chief Financial Officer and performing various accounting, purchasing and support functions as required by the department.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Successful completion of a two (2) year post-secondary education from an accredited institution in the accounting field or have a Business Administration accounting diploma.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) years related experience in a similar role and responsibilities.
  • Experience preparing and proofreading financial documentation.
  • A background in accounting and finance with experience in office environment.

LANGUAGE:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both languages (oral; English and French) is required. Must meet INTERMEDIATE (2+) Level as per the Province of New Brunswick Linguistic Standards in both languages as a minimum requirement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency with spreadsheets and windows applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point.
  • A solid understanding of accounting rules in relations to the Balance Sheet, Income Statements
  • An extremely high level of accuracy, attention to detail, thorough record keeping, individual initiative, planning and good judgement.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles/requirements and general finance functions in order to support the team in producing departmental deliverables.
  • Effective interpersonal, writing, computer skills are essential.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and have excellent time management skills.

CONTACT:

  • The incumbent shall demonstrate a strong commitment toward providing a high level of customer service, a positive, proactive and open-minded attitude, courteous and friendly disposition and creative problem solving skills.
  • The incumbent will be in frequent contact with personnel from Finance and other departments, as well as with outside vendors and City clients.

CONDITIONS OF WORK:

  • Normal working hours prevail under agreeable working conditions, in an open office environment, and are covered under the CHEA/PSAC Local 60200 Collective Agreement (City Hall Employees Association / Public Service Alliance of Canada).
  • Some overtime may be required.
