Homes by Avi Group of Companies is seeking a detail orientated, motivated, and highly collaborative individual to join our team as an Estimator. Homes by Avi has been building family homes since 1978, with home building divisions in Calgary, Edmonton, and Austin, Texas.
Estimator – Residential Construction
You will work directly under the leadership of the Estimating Manager to ensure that the job file information is released accurately via Purchase Orders to applicable trade & supplier partners within the required time lines.

What You Will Do*:

• Responsible for performing quantity takeoffs for model plans, model options estimation, and ensuring continuous improvement to base budgets and job costs
• Compiling and categorizing research, and processing change orders while ensuring the information is distributed to our trade partners and site staff in an effective and timely manner
• Coordinate with Estimating Manager regarding suppliers and trades to ensure efficiency in comparison to costs
• Produce detailed, error-free job cost budgets, including revisions and variances, within set timelines
• Ensure continuous improvements to base budgets & job cost budgeting procedures

Your Qualifications – The Must Have’s

3+ years of professional experience in an estimating or purchasing role

• Architectural Technologies diploma, post-secondary degree in a related field, or equivalent
• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and familiarity with residential construction process & applicable building codes/standards
• Excellent analytical and mathematic skills
• Ability to manage high priority/urgent requests, adapt to changing priorities
• Self-motivator with strong organizational and intra-personal skills
• Exceptionally attentive to task and detail

Additional Skills – The Nice to Have’s

Familiarity with tender processes

• Experience in the residential construction industry
