We are hiring solution-minded people excited to help us grow into the future. We are currently looking to fill the position of Engineer – Planning & Reliabilityfor thePort Hawkesbury Biomass Plant.

Accountabilities: You will be responsible to support weekly workflow and ongoing outage planning. This will include scoping work, developing technical work packages, spec new equipment/parts due to obsolescence, coordinating operational items, contractor planning and preventative maintenance efficiencies. You will work with the planner and engineering support specialist to procure material based on scoped work. You will attend planning meetings to ensure work is efficiently planned and scheduled.

You will assist with the execution of the plant’s capital program including project scoping, project preparation, cost control and project management.

You will supervise contract crews and external consultants for outage and non-outage work as required.

You will work closely with maintenance and operations in process and equipment troubleshooting, and provide engineering assistance in support of safety improvements, process improvements, equipment modifications, and cost reduction initiatives.

As part of the Port Hawkesbury Biomass Plant & Point Tupper Generation Station team, you may be assigned work/duties in either plant as applicable.

You will be responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.
  • Skills, Capabilities and Experience: You must be a Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training. A degree in mechanical engineering is preferred however consideration may be given to candidates holding an engineering degree from another discipline and having the appropriate skills and applicable level of experience in heavy industry. Supervisory and/or planning or project management experience are considered an asset.
You must have strong oral and written communication skills, exemplary interpersonal skills and be able to function effectively in a team environment. You will be a self-starter with proven organizational and analytical skills with established skills in managing multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously. You are required to be available for after hour consultation and emergency plant work. You must hold a valid driver’s license.
