Riggs Associates is a heavy civil engineering firm specializing in marine, coastal and water resources engineering. Most of the firm’s work is within the Great Lakes waterways, and some beyond.

Role Description

The role will be alternating between onsite practical work and in office design & development. Work in the summer will primarily be on work sites and focused on developing practical experience. The work will include site inspections, surveying, GIS work and contract administration. Some of the work sites are remote and require the ability to travel within Ontario. Due to the nature of some of the work sites, this role requires working on the water.

The work in the winter will be focused on development & designing. Familiarization with numerical modeling and structural analysis is an asset to the role. There is flexibility to work in the head office (London, ON), to work remotely or a combination of the two.

Qualifications

• A graduate of Civil/Environmental Engineering from an accredited Canadian University.

Desired Skills & Experiences

• Familiarization with Surveying, GIS and AutoCAD is an asset.
• Familiarization with numerical modeling and structural analysis
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills and a high level of integrity are required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
• Strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple demands are required.
• Boaters license an asset but not required.

Working Terms

• Full-Time Employment – Hourly Pay – 12-month contract with options to extend upon completion
• Straight days, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work when mutually agreed upon.
• Frequent travel within Ontario Required (expenses covered).
• Summer will be mostly focused on various ongoing construction sites. Winters will primarily be office work in development, designing and analysis.
