JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to support, with supervision, the implementation of energy and sustainability initiatives for a Chicago-based acute-care healthcare client portfolio of 14 acute care and 700+ non-acute care facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Identifies cost savings opportunities, budgets for utilities; coordinates energy procurement and energy-related projects on behalf of client accounts. Prepares monthly variance and energy service status reports. Monitors and reports on energy use bill gap analysis and spending trends.

Reviews and understands utility rates and includes this data in reporting as appropriate. Maintains, reviews and analyzes utility bill data and tracks/maintains utility contracts.

Understands building energy consumption profiles. Has a working knowledge of building systems, energy and water efficiency projects and industry standards for measurement & verification of energy savings. Provides energy and sustainability related inputs to preventative maintenance and engineering procedures as directed.

Assists in developing site energy profiles. Facilitates the maintenance and reporting of energy and water benchmarks and performance metrics.

Supports any existing and future state, federal and Joint Commission Environmental Sustainability compliance requirements

Supports client’s emissions (scopes 1 and 2) and water KPI reporting

Manages energy benchmarking in Energy Star and other healthcare benchmarks

Develops and presents monthly energy reports on energy use, water use, waste diversion rates and spending trends.

Understand and calculate building energy consumption profiles and energy savings from projects. Assists with site surveys and energy plans at other accounts as directed.

Under supervision, participates in inspections, surveys and analysis on the sites under management.

Understands past, present and future energy plans and performance.

Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. May provide informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. May coordinate and assign tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from four-year College or university. Minimum Two years of related experience and/or training preferred.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

CEM and/or LEED accreditation preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

Ability to write reports, manuals in a pre-designed style and format. Experience working with large databases and the ability to communicate data visually via Tableau or Power BI for effective reporting. Advanced knowledge of Excel VBA or other programming tools is preferred.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Decisions made with understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
