We are looking for a self-motivated, Advanced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in digital hardware, analog circuit designs, interpersonal skills and leadership potential who will thrive in a dynamic team environment. This position is in the new Industrial Machine Vision (IMV) division, located in Mississauga Ontario, under Data Capture Solutions (DCS) business unit, a world class leader in innovative data capture, asset intelligence and automation solutions.
We’re looking for someone with experience designing PCBs with embedded processors and high-speed interfaces. Strong experience and understanding of high efficiency power supply designs is required, with a preference for experience designing within compact, thermally constrained products.
Responsibilities:

  • Architects and designs highly complex electrical projects. Completes all phases of the projects. Follows through on all in-process and final inspection activities.
  • Leads, designs, and develops PCBs including component selection, schematic entry, stack up design, HDI PCB layout guidelines & review, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Develops and applies technical and quality improvements.
  • Creates new technologies and solutions based on novel or unique ideas. Ensures new ideas and methodologies are documented for use by hardware teams.
  • Uses status as a knowledge leader in hardware design and functional knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines and program management to provide technical leadership to a given program.
  • Defines requirements for and may design complex new tools to aid in the analysis and solving of complex problems.
  • Initiates cross-company collaboration and develops positive relationships with other engineering disciplines.
  • May coordinate the activities of other personnel.
  • Tests and resolves EMI/EMC issues to get the product certified.
  • Able to visit Mississauga site office to support the project as needed.

Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree ideally Electrical Engineering or similar field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in digital hardware design and testing. (Experience could include relevant MA/PhD program / research)
  • Strong experience in analog circuit design and efficient power supply design.
  • Design and simulation experience with Hi-speed interface (e.g., LVDS, MIPI, DisplayPort, HDMI, PCIE)
  • Experience with microprocessor, high-speed interfaces, DDR3 or DDR4 and flash memories.
  • Familiar with Cadence or equivalent PCB design software. Generate schematics and guide
    PCB layouts for 3rd party production of PCBAs.
  • Proficient use of electronic testing equipment such as oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, electronic loads, and signal generators.
  • Strong team player with good interpersonal skills as well as effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Masters degree
  • Experience in design of camera systems.
  • Experienced in power supply circuitry design for LED driver
  • Strong knowledge of layout strategies for Rigid PCB, Flex, and Rigid-Flex including material selection, stack-up planning, EMI minimization, signal integrity, noise suppression and design for manufacturing, testing and reliability (DFM, DFT, DFR)
  • Experienced in system design involving Power over Ethernet (PoE).
  • Experience with 24V industrial controls and low level signaling
  • Knowledge of FPGA design and VHDL programming.
