Electrical Engineering Designer

Agilus is partnering with our client a leading full-service engineering consulting and construction management firm in their search for an Electrical Designerto join their Power Generation & Energy team in St. Catherines office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use AutoCAD software to produce detailed project design and construction drawings.
  • Prepare all types of electrical drawings, including General Arrangements & Section Views, Single Line Diagrams, AC/DC Schematics, Logic diagrams, Raceway Routing Diagrams, Protection/Control Panel Layouts & Wiring Diagrams, Grounding Plans & Details, Lighting Plans, Cable Blocks and Cable Termination Schedules.
  • Attend software update sessions as required.
  • Participate in site visits for data collection.
  • Review vendor drawings.
  • Attend and participate in project review meetings.
  • Review contractor submittals and respond to contractor RFIs.
  • Carry out site construction review visits and prepare record drawings.
  • Follow in-house and/or client drawing procedures and standards.

EDUCATION & LICENSES:

  • Electrical Engineering Technician/Technologist diploma (or equivalent) is required.
  • Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) license is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience of document production experience in electrical design.
  • Experience in the design of electrical power systems including specific experience with substations, industrial facilities, central utility plants, power plants, generation plants & distribution systems.
  • Design of low, medium & high voltage systems.
  • Detailed design of relay protection systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical standards and codes.
  • Familiarity working within a multi-discipline environment.
  • Fully proficient with AUTOCAD software.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences
  • Strong work ethic and desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist more senior staff and mentor junior staff.
  • Working knowledge of electrical equipment including, LV & MV switchgear, transformers and generators as well as standard methods of connection and assembly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
