Equinox Gold is a growth-focused mining company with seven gold mines and a clear plan to increase production by advancing a pipeline of growth projects. The Company is delivering on its growth and diversification strategy, rapidly growing from a single-asset developer to a multi-mine producer, and is advancing toward its vision of producing one million ounces of gold annually.

Job Summary
Reporting to SVP Technical Services, the Director, Processing and Metallurgy is a corporate-based position in Vancouver, Canada whose primary role is to provide technical support to existing mines’ Process Area teams for carbon-in-leach, resin-in-leach and/or heap leach operations. The Director will work in close collaboration with the Process Area operations teams at each of the mine sites to support the development and execution of processing plans in collaboration with the vision for the process areas, and to drive accountability to meet or exceed expectations in safety, production, environmental, financial, and technical performance. In addition, the Director will be part of and support the Vancouver-based Technical Services team with conducting feasibility studies, monthly operations reviews, quarterly operations budget update reviews and project due diligence.

Key responsibilities
Support the Process Areas’ operations crews in a manner that is grounded in the company’s values and vision, providing clear direction and leadership to all team members.
Work with the Process Areas teams to help develop production targets in a consistent, sustainable way.
Encourage collaboration within Process Area teams and between disciplines and other work Area teams, such as mining, and facilitating constructive professional relationships.
Coach and mentor the Process Area team members to improve performance, ensure ongoing growth and development, and set criteria for success.
Sponsor continuous improvement initiatives with process operations to meet and exceed current expectations and foster an active culture of continuous improvement where every individual is encouraged to challenge current practices and seek improvement.
Assist with the development and management of key performance indicators (KPIs) used for the process technical services and operations teams.
Support a work environment with the Process Areas’ teams of accountability, openness, and technical and personal curiosity.
Participate in the monthly review of process plant objectives and performance in a clear, transparent manner in conjunction with the corporate Mining Technical Services group.
Review and support the Process Areas’ quarterly and annual business plans and strategies, in alignment with the regional and corporate strategies and expectations for financial and productivity performance.
Review and support the capital expenditure and operating budgets for the Process Area, in alignment with the mine site and corporate business objectives.
Demonstrate personal commitment to comprehensive safety, environmental, and social responsibility practices, ensuring that these practices are foundational to the Process Area teams’ daily work.
Actively support a safety-focused work environment and an environment where employees are empowered and expected to speak openly about safety concerns.
Perform periodic mine site visits to identify, evaluate, and manage risks in the Process Area, including the review of management plans, process status and process trend directions.
Assist with the development of practical, viable contingency plans in response to key risks to ensure plan delivery.

Strong ability to communicate to a wide variety of audiences (e.g. site personnel, general and country managers, corporate executives). Clear understanding of how the business is run and of the primary business drivers.
Significant business focus, with ability to recognise and act on both issues and opportunities as they arise. Ability to manage change effectively and to create and implement sustainable solutions.
Strong desire and ability to make systems-oriented, data-based decisions to deliver results.
Demonstrated business improvement achievements and ability to implement strategic plans. Strong cost management skills, adapting to changing conditions and business needs while keeping focus on safe production delivery.
Strong project management abilities, understanding key project drivers, resource allocation, cost control, and scope delivery means.
Ability to constructively manage conflict to drive improvement.
Ability to communicate with the other mining areas to implement and coordinate cross functional Mine-to-Mill actions.
Ability to integrate geometallurgy data into succinct, practical ore blending strategies that suit mining, geology and metallurgical efficiency and cost objectives.

Experience/Education
20+ years’ technical, engineering, operational, or management experience in a process facility, in a gold and process plant or similar.
Minimum 5 years’ senior management experience with broad management responsibilities.
Proven track record of effectively managing multiple concurrent priorities with multiple key stakeholders, delivering safe production.
Demonstrated leadership of a multidisciplinary, multicultural team in a dynamic, complex work environment.
Demonstrated experience as a project Study Manager and with the required professional qualifications/accreditation as a Qualified Person for National Instruments 43-101 (NI 43-101) and/or Joint Ore Reserve Committee (JORC).
Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is desirable.
Bachelor’s degree in Mineral Process, Metallurgical or Chemical engineering or related field.
Additional education in business/finance/management or related fields an asset.
