Reporting to the Global VP Finance, Softgel and Oral Technologies (Head of Finance for the Business Unit), the Director of Finance is accountable for effectively leading the financials for Catalent’s SOT, Canada. This includes controlling, reporting and analyzing the financial and statistical information regarding the company’s operations on a timely and accurate basis across two sites--Strathroy and Windsor, Ontario. The Director of Finance is also accountable to develop and maintain appropriate internal control systems and procedures that safeguard the assets of the Company.

The Role
  • Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting operational functions, including hiring, training and retaining competent accounting staff.
  • Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial and statistical data necessary for an accurate accounting of business results.
  • Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements. Provide management with management reports that support decision making.
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget as well as the monthly forecasts.
  • Assess current accounting and internal control processes, develop recommendations for improvement and monitor on going performance.
  • Make recommendations regarding benchmarking the financial and operating performance.
  • Liaise with external auditors and lead financial audits. Make recommendations for improvements.
  • Provide financial analysis for contract negotiations and investment decisions as required.
The Candidate
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Accounting, Finance)
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • C.M.A., C.G.A., or C.A. highly preferred
  • Minimum 7-10+ years of progressive work experience in financial management required.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment at a middle management level required.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical and/or GMP facilities preferred.
  • Knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles), tax laws (including income tax & value added tax),
  • Strong knowledge of accounting systems, budgets, internal controls, business planning, and asset management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax and banking.
  • Excellent computer skills utilizing an ERP system as well as Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint.
