The Opportunity


Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Client Engagement, the Director is responsible for effectively managing the relationship with multiple clients through all phases of projects under his/her direction, serving as the continuity throughout each project and securing extensions from clients under his/her direction. The Director also ensures the ongoing management and development of his/her team members. When conditions safely permit, travel between North America and internationally may be a requirement. During the COVID-19 pandemic, travel expectations will be by rare exception only.

Responsibilities


Project Strategy and Oversight

  • Provides project excellence, oversight and strategic consulting and direction across the multiple projects for which he/she is responsible
  • Works with the client and internal team to define the scope of each client’s brand transition across all asset categories. Typically works with clients at the Director and Vice-President level but may be required to present project deliverables to the C-Suite and Executive levels
  • Collaborates with internal colleagues to identify teams required for each project
  • Helps project teams to address issues and anticipate risks
  • Communicates key project updates to Senior Vice-President, Client Engagement
  • Accountable for the quality of project deliverables including cost estimates
  • Looks for opportunities to enhance rebrand implementation processes

Client Management

  • Owns the client relationship through entire project lifecycle, providing strategic account management and securing extension work
  • Drafts change orders (COs) and works with clients to ensure their approval
  • Works with the Client Service department to set project fees
  • Ensures projects are delivered according to the statements of work (SOW) and/or associated change orders, ensuring that projects remain on time and within the forecast resource allocation
  • Helps Client Service to create and review SOWs and change orders before they are issued
  • Looks for additional short- and long-term business opportunities
  • Consults with Senior Vice-President, Client Engagement and Client Services about client’s strategic account management
  • Transitions relationship back to Client Services when project is complete or when the next phase of the project is not expected to start for at least a few months

Leadership

  • Manages a team of Managers and Senior Managers who lead projects for which the Director is accountable ensuring that everyone has a great time doing great work!
  • Serve as a people leader for team member(s), and provide coaching as required
  • Provides feedback and supports employees’ development and career progression
  • Manages performance and addresses concerns that arise
  • Participates and provides input into hiring process for team members
  • Ensures that team members reporting to Project Leads receive ongoing feedback and development
  • Lead semi-annual reviews for all team members
  • Identifies opportunities for learning and development that both address team members’ developmental needs and aspirations, and are mindful of the company’s direction and requirements
  • Leads by example and supports teams to be client-oriented and adhere to our mantra “Smarter, Faster, Better”
  • Encourages her/himself and others to foster our culture and contributing to the improvement of organizational communications, learning and development and internal processes
  • Contribute to internal initiatives that impact the client and/or team member experience
  • Bring forward smarter, faster, better solutions to processes and identify opportunities to be more agile in day to day activities
  • Promotes an inclusive environment by demonstrating a commitment to EDI and ensuring people leaders within team demonstrate inclusive values and behaviours
  • Coach each team member as an individual; demonstrates empathy and understanding of diversity and differences

Qualifications


Education and Experience

  • University degree
  • 7 or more years of management consulting experience working across industries and across solutions or relevant consulting experience gained within an organization
  • Proven track record of building effective, mutually beneficial client relationships
  • Project management education/experience is strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated skills in financial analysis with the ability to relate strategies to financial implications, to ensure cost estimates are correct and to effectively articulate implications internally and externally

  • Demonstrated team-building and leadership skills and an ability to effectively manage and coach technical and non-technical teams
  • Good organizational skills and a keen attention to detail

Technical skills

  • Excellent computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project or other scheduling software such as Smartsheet or Teamwork Projects
  • Basic knowledge and experience with MS Visio at a minimum
