JOB SUMMARY
The Cross Border Agent is responsible for the accurate processing of paperwork and shipment follow-up within a scheduled deadline. This position includes job requirements such as the monitoring of numerous job specific computer programs, accurate data entry and timely communication with clients, brokers and shippers.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor Kofax for incoming documents (fax and images).
- Complete indexing and verification of paperwork.
- Accurate data entry of key information.
- Verify paperwork to ensure all necessary data is present.
- Follow-up with consignees, shippers and others via telephone, fax and or email.
- Submit paperwork to the correct broker within timeframe to allow for Acceptance before ETA.
- Create northbound and/or southbound manifests upon request.
- Respond and action all client inquiries received via telephone, fax and/or email.
- Elevate shipment concerns/issues to appropriate point of contact.
- Monitor all job specific computer programs and capture accurate notes
- Follow-up and follow-through with all shipment requirements.
- Ensure a high-quality product and provide excellent customer service.
- Maintain excellent relations with vendors and carrier contacts.
- Relay all communications to our internal distribution lists and effectively coordinate with next shift
- Support and work effectively in a team environment
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Bilingual (English/French), would be an asset
- Required to have basic knowledge of customs brokerage
- Able to multi-task, handle a large volume of work and meet tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and be able to deal effectively with clients, staff and management
- Ability to reflect a professional company image
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Organized and detail oriented
- Accurate keyboarding
- Ability to use numerous job specific computer programs simultaneously
- Ability to make informed decisions based on outlined processes and procedures
