Who are we looking for:

• University or College diploma in Accounting or Finance or related field
• Minimum 5 years of project accounting experience in construction and/or real estate development environment
• Experience with Yardi Software is a strong asset
• Sound knowledge of Cost Accounting and Budgeting
• Ability to take ownership of and lead assigned projects
• Advanced level in Excel
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Your responsibilities:

• Reporting to the Director of Accounting and Finance, Project Accountant is responsible for all aspects of accounting and financial support over the course of a project
• Effective management of project budget including setting up jobs, budget control, subcontracts, and change orders in accounting software
• Apply required construction accounting standards and procedures to the recording and reporting of construction activities
• Setting up and monitoring the accounting system
• Understanding and maintaining standard cost codes in accounting system
• Reviewing owner and subcontractor contract terms to ensure accuracy and timeliness of progress billings and payments
• Project Accountants will work closely with Project Managers throughout the life cycle of the projects to ensure receivables and payables are handled accurately and in a timely manner
• Communicating with Construction division and external vendors and subcontractors
• Full cycle accounting including journal entries, bank reconciliation, month and year-end closings
• Reviewing and approving payables weekly for payment
• Preparing monthly financial reports and account analyses
• Audit and tax return processes
• Assisting with implementation and maintenance of internal financial controls and procedures
• Monitoring and resolving bank issues including fee anomalies and check differences
• Providing accurate, understandable, timely information that supports your management decisions, including analysis and recommendations
• Ensuring compliance with policies and law
• Responding to ad-hoc requests
