THE ROLE

The Community Recreation Supervisor plays an important role, providing quality leisure programs, services and facilities to our military members and their families.

Our services are tailored to help families with the challenges they may face due to military life and make the most of everyday activities such as going to the playground or day camp. We believe that when members of the Canadian Armed Forces are able to take good care of themselves and their families, they can do better both at home and at work. Whether families need to sign the kids up for swimming lessons, improve their fitness, make friends in a new community, our services are here to help.

Under the supervision of the Community Recreation Coordinator, the Community Recreation Supervisor assists the manager/supervisor in planning, organizing, implementing and promoting recreation programs, sports, activities and special events for the Military Community. They assist in monitoring and evaluating Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) recreation programs. They submit reports to the manager/supervisor regarding recreation programs. They promote participation in recreation programs. They submit newspaper, newsletter articles, social media and website promotional material to promote recreation activities.

Qualifications Needed

Education, Certifications and Licenses

High school diploma and experience in a related field

Current CPR And Basic First Aid Qualifications

HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development or HIGH FIVE Sport

HIGH FIVE QUEST 2

HIGH FIVE Healthy Minds for Healthy Children

Experience

In planning, organizing and evaluating the operations and delivery of recreation programs

In program development and instruction

In applying policies, procedures, regulations, and applicable legislation

In supervising personnel

In supervising the work of volunteers

In budget administration

Competencies, Skills And Abilities

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership

Language Requirements

English Essential

Other Information

Perform moderate lifting, carrying, pulling and/or pushing (i.e. more than 10 lbs/4.5 kg but less than 50 lbs/23 kg)

The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Keep our Canadian Armed Forces operationally ready and their families and military community healthy as part of the team at Personnel Support Programs.

Personnel Support Programs contributes to the operational readiness of our Canadian Armed Forces through the provision of fitness, sports, recreation and health promotion programs to military communities across Canada and members while on deployment.
