This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities

The Clinical Therapist is a member of the Child and Adolescent Service, Mental Health and Addictions. Reporting to the Manager, the Clinical Therapist provides assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and crisis management for clients. The Clinical Therapist carries out the general duties of the Child and Adolescent Service team but in addition to those duties, participates in quality initiatives in the program of care, engages in collaborative person-centred care, and utilizes available information technology to support best practice. The Clinical Therapist receives and provides supervision and mentorship as part of a community of practice. It is an expectation that the Clinical Therapist will act in a professional and ethical manner, following all recognized codes of ethics, standards, legislation, and guidelines relevant to clinical practice and profession. They will convey respect and a solid understanding of subtle and complex diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to specific groups.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a clinical health-related discipline (Masters in Social Work, Psychology (Registered, Masters), Masters in Counseling, Masters in Nursing, Masters in Occupational Therapy)
  • Current registration with relevant provincial regulatory body
  • Two years’ related clinical experience required (including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention and discharge planning)
  • Competency in CBT and DBT training/experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used (DSM V) for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in providing individual and group evidence informed therapies based on care plan to clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or concurrent disorders
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in collaborating with families in relation to sharing information, and implementing family-sensitive services that involve families in the care and recovery of people living mental illness and addiction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide and violence risk assessment/ intervention
  • Non-violent crisis intervention and Suicide Risk Assessment preferred
  • Demonstrated awareness of community resources and programs.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • High level of written/ oral/ interpersonal communication skills; experience with conflict resolution
  • Ability to work effectively in multiple software applications required
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent work record and attendance, and physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Salary Information

Clinical Therapist

$34.9875 - $45.9941 Hourly
