The Opportunity::
McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Designer to join our growing team in Grande Prairie, AB. We are seeking a strong communicator who has excellent design skills and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D. As a true team player, you will have to the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on a variety of Highway Planning, Infrastructure Development, and Energy Servicing projects. What You’ll Be Doing::

• Contribute to the cost effective and timely production of engineering designs, including roadways, drainage and deep utilities that meet all client and approval agency requirements and standards
• Transform preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, plans and project informational requirements, using primarily AutoCAD / Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as needed
• Coordinate the preparation of drawings required for approvals, prepare and development construction cost estimates and quantity take-offs
• Collaborate with team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved
• Provide construction supervision and/or administration for municipal and land development projects

What You’ll Bring::

• Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution is considered an asset
• Prior related experience in a designer role:
• 2+ years’ experience for applicants with a bachelor’s degree
• 4+ years’ experience for applicants with a diploma
• Preference will be given to candidates with local experience
• Currently registered, or qualified to register as a Technician / Technologist with ASET or as an EIT or P.Eng with APEGA is considered an asset
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D Software is essential; knowledge and experience with CAD/Mapping/GIS software is also an asset
• Attention to detail and excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to work independently and within a busy, high-performing, deadline
