Business Analyst - Media Division

Job Summary

The Media Business Analyst (BA) is responsible for requirements elicitation, communication and management for any project or initiative requiring technical or procedural components as well as for other BA-related tasks. This individual is solution-oriented, responsible and capable of collaborating with multiple Media division product owners and digital publishing development teams, to work on the evolution of both the backend data processing and frontend user experience of our digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and execute effective elicitation approaches and techniques. i.e. Gather requirements through workshops, interviews, etc.
  • Provide estimates, plans requirements-related activities, and enact the plan.
  • Prepare deliverables (business requirements, functional specifications, process diagrams, etc.) in accordance with project requirements and company standards.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and SMEs in relevant activities.
  • Provide requirements-related information and updates to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Work with various teams on user experience, information architecture, user personas and user journeys, UI sketches, and wireframes, etc.
  • Work under the direction of project managers and independently with customers.
  • Share knowledge with peers.
  • Identify and reference processes and functions requiring automation.
  • Build tools to automate and streamline processes.
  • Supervise QA test execution activities and ensure compliance with the intended goals and requirements.
  • Create tickets and documentation to reference bugs, change requests and epics.
  • Respond to inquiries and tickets from internal customers and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate external / 3rd party resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Graduated in Computer Science, Web Technologies or a related field.
  • 4+ years experience as a Business or Process Analyst.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to work effectively with different individuals of varying skill sets, areas of expertise, communication styles and organizational hierarchies.
  • Impeccable writing skills and capacity to build organized and flawless documentation.
  • Knowledge of the functions, operations, and mission of a digital media company.
  • Forward-thinking and resourcefulness to ensure all initiatives are delivered in the most cost-effective and timely manner.
  • Strong understanding of technology, as well as of the processes of software engineering and UI design.
  • Demonstrate success in business process improvement/re-engineering.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative business case analysis skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and to translate ideas into actions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and nimble environment that can pivot very quickly to reflect the changing needs of the company or industry.
  • Functional and conversant understanding of common digital platform capabilities, including desktop, mobile, video, etc.
Assets
  • Software engineering or user-interface design experience.
  • Agile, DevOps, ITIL.
  • UX / UI experience.
  • Experience with digital publishing platforms (Drupal preferred).
