This position is responsible for the site supervision of the following type of projects: Construction renovations, Equipment installation, maintenance and repairs, equipment upgrades and building systems improvements/upgrades.

Responsibilities:

• Oversees the site supervision of all construction renovations, equipment and maintenance
• repairs/upgrades and building systems improvements/upgrades.
• Advise contractors and or suppliers of omissions and discrepancies in plans and or materials and specifications and assist in rectifying the problems.
• Prepare progress reports and recommend progress payments for completed work on projects supervised.
• Ensure that the correct materials and tools are on the job site at all times.
• Coordinates the delivery of all material required for the job, checks deliveries against purchase orders to ensure correct delivery. Supervises and coordinates additional contracted personnel as necessary.
• Monitors all sub-contractors and required inspections.
• Inspects each phase of work to determine if quality standards are met and that trades are completed on schedule.
• Reviews any and all work plans and installation details, with Facilities Manager, before any work is allowed to commence on site.
• Hold an orientation meeting with contractors before beginning of each work day to inform them of any project requirements and operational restrictions, procedures and safety requirements and discuss the plan for the day.
• Ensure that all work done meets all local building codes and all safety compliance requirements including Altasciences SOP’s.
• Must be comfortable using typical construction equipment and power tools and knowledgeable in the use of tools to be used for each task.
• Accountable for the safety of all personnel and security of the building, building systems and materials and assets on job site. Must lead by example and follow all safety requirements.
• Maintains a project site log (after each build day for future references in case of any site discrepancies).

Desired Profile

• Incumbent will have and good knowledge of building systems, including, HVAC, electrical
• building distribution, fire protection, mechanical equipment installation and construction renovation.
• Experience managing mechanical equipment installation, construction renovation and construction projects, strong communication skills and the ability to solve problems quickly is a must.
• Driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
• Skill and comfort working with contractors and trades men.
• Comfortable with public speaking on the job site.
• Knowledge and expertise in the construction industry.
• Equipment installation experience with strong leadership skills preferred.
• Knowledge of local building codes is an asset.
• Must be able to navigate construction site in all phases of construction.
• Ability to stand for 8 plus hours at a time, and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Use of reliable personal vehicle to and from job sites.
• First Aid and CPR certified is an asset.
