Job Description

Under the direction of the Director, Public Health and/or Medical Health Officer, this position provides leadership to a range of Public Health Nursing programs related to communicable disease (CD), ensuring smooth operation of those programs and providing consultation on complex public health nursing issues. The position and programs provide direct services related to communicable disease including health promotion, disease prevention, immunization and treatment for aggregates, groups, families and individuals in the community. The main responsibilities are to provide investigation and the related follow up of reportable and non reportable communicable diseases and facilitate effective organizational planning related to communicable disease; prevention of communicable disease via immunization and harm reduction strategies; assess community trends within assigned area and modifies local services and assignments as required; ensure that the service delivered to clients is of a high and consistent quality; and support processes within the organization which promote continuous quality improvement. This position balances responsibilities of Communicable Disease Coordination and general Public Health Nursing.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing
• Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA)
  

Experience

• A minimum of three (3) years experience in public health nursing, which includes immunization. - Additional leadership experience an asset.
