Work at CBC/Radio-Canada
At CBC/Radio-Canada, we create content that informs, entertains and connects Canadians on multiple platforms. Our successes and accomplishments are driven by embodying and upholding values, which include creativity, integrity, inclusiveness and relevance.
Do you think you have the ability and drive to keep up with this exciting, ever-changing industry? Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.
Please note that this is a one year temporary role.
Your role
We are looking for a bright, energetic, and creative Associate Producer/Technician to join our team. You will produce content for, and will be the technical operator of Saskatoon Morning, our Saskatoon-based radio morning show. The successful candidate will be skilled at creating content for multiple platforms, and demonstrate exceptional skills in verbal and written communication, as well as story generation. Ideally, you are web savvy, with a proven track record of mixing sound and voice. Additionally, we are looking for people who are skilled in gathering video/audio as well as writing and publishing local stories on a wide range of news and current affairs topics.
You will play an integral role with a focus on three priorities:
Content: In this role, you will ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, immediate and resonate with the communities we serve. You will further our original, enterprise and investigative storytelling and ensure we are talking about what matters most to people throughout the province. You’re innovative and will try new things, new workflows and new story treatments. You inspire others to do the same.
Community: As the industry shifts, local news and community storytelling is more important than ever. You will understand the diverse and changing population in Saskatchewan and the importance of reflecting all our communities in our content.
Culture: You live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful workplace.
Please note the role generally requires a 05:00 a.m. start time.

Your profile:
  • University degree or equivalent and three (3) years of practical and relevant experience.
  • Strong background in radio broadcasting, and have demonstrated skills operating soundboards, live-mixing radio programs, and managing studio links. Technical troubleshooting skills are an asset.
  • Established presence on social media and knowledge of social media as a news gathering and audience engagement tool; web and tech savvy.
  • Recognized excellence in chasing breaking news, providing quick turnaround when writing scripts and editing. Strong contributor of ideas, stories and treatments for radio and digital environments.
  • Proven track record of ensuring a diversity of voices is reflected in storytelling. You will contribute to the diversity of perspectives on the team.
  • Deep knowledge of an Indigenous and/or a visible minority community in Saskatoon.
  • High level of organization and productivity.
  • Strong and enthusiastic team player with good communication skills.
  • Initiative taker, with ability to be productive in individual and team settings.
  • Passionate about exploring Saskatoon’s people, issues and culture.
  • Innovative with programming and ideas.
  • Curious, incisive and critical thinker.
  • Knowledge of Dalet and/or non-linear editors, and iNews - an asset.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, early mornings, weekends and nights.
