Who we need:
Yorkville University is recruiting for an experienced and action-oriented Associate Dean to guide the new Master of Couple & Family Therapy (MCFT) program through a successful approval process and program launch. You will provide leadership for planning, quality assurance, and academic operations, as well as the integrity and reputation of the program within the Canadian couples & family therapy counselling profession. The Associate Dean will work closely with the Corporate Development team upon joining, and then be a critical part of the leadership team within the Faculty of Behavioural Sciences upon program launch. The role requires an experienced leader who is passionate about practical post-secondary education, the student experience and increasing the accessibility of couple & family therapists to the Canadian population.
Reporting initially to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Development, the Associate Dean MCFT provides academic and professional leadership for the effective online delivery of the MCFT program. They will collaborate with the Corporate Development team to complete the steps of the program launch process as quickly and efficiently as possible, clear roadblocks in the new program launch, contribute to the curriculum planning and development while keeping the student success and satisfaction strategies top of mind.
What you will do:
A seasoned and decisive leader, the Associate Dean of MCFT will possess academic administrative experience particularly with respect to building the program’s reputation and governance, establishing consensus, and ability to attract, inspire and lead faculty with diverse interests. They will be a builder, with a high EQ, who will demonstrate a realistic understanding of the challenges, ambiguities and prospects that lie ahead. Essential to the role is a commitment to innovation in learning, entrepreneurship, ability to define and speak to the couple & family counselling profession in Canada. An earned doctorate from a recognized university in a related field (Counselling Psychology, Psychology, Education, Behavioral Science, etc) along with 10+ years of professional experience is required. Practical experience as a counsellor is considered an asset.
