Dragados Canada, Inc., the Canadian construction arm of the ACS Group (one of the world’s largest international construction and engineering companies), is seeking a talented and experienced Assistant Project Manager (Construction) to join its dynamic and energetic team.


Dragados Canada was established in 2008 and has grown steadily into an industry-leader in Canada, with offices in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, successfully performing a variety of large-scale transportation, bridge, dam, tunnel, and other major infrastructure projects.

Note: This job requires duties to be performed from Whitby, Ontario; the incumbent may be working out of Downtown Toronto for the first 12-16 months.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Project or Discipline Manager to ensure that the scope is built according to the approved plans, specifications, shop drawings, and applicable building codes and standards are maintained
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the construction schedule, staging and sequencing in conjunction with project team to meet milestone and completion dates
  • Assist with identification and coordination of engineering requirement with the design team
  • Assist with the creation and facilitation the project quality program to ensure project materials are supplied and work is completed accordingly
  • Provide strong leadership to construction team members, capitalizing on individual and group strengths to ensure project targets are achieved
  • Identify and manage opportunities and risks to achieve the best possible impact on schedule and financial targets
  • Maintain, track and report all financial aspects of the assigned scope

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in construction of heavy civil infrastructure projects
  • Experience in design build environment
  • Experience with planning and managing construction activities including sequence, staging, scheduling
  • Experience managing subcontracts including ability to develop scope of work, review and compare quotations, and coordinate/integrate with various disciplines
  • Experience in rail corridor will be considered an asset
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction documents, drawings, specifications, current construction practices and methodology
  • Good understanding of construction costs and budgets
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Good knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple stakeholders
  • Track record of building successful teams and promoting teamwork through motivating, coaching and consensus-building
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
