Position Summary

We are growing our Casual Pool of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) at Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) in our Ambulatory Care Department (ACU).

Casual employment will vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Shifts will always be during the Day (07:30 to 15:30 hours) Monday through Friday. Casual employees receive 12.6% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays. Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans. A Casual position may lead into regular employment opportunities, as once hired, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part-time or full time positions.

What The ACU LPN Works On

The ACU LPN is responsible for the Minor Surgery slate, which is zero to 15 patients/day and in assisting surgeons with minor surgical procedures. Work is primarily independently performed with available support from the Patient Care Coordinator and two other surgical nurses.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses with the full range of current licensed practical nursing competencies.
  • Graduation from an accredited Operating Room Program for Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • One (1) year recent related experience working as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Acute Care, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Current CPR certification required.
