Fueling Supervisor

We are currently providing an opportunity for a well-rounded, business minded, customer and employee satisfaction focused professional to join our team in the position of Fueling Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day fueling and fuel farm operations at YYT St John’s International Airport.

About the Position:

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include:
  • Supporting and abiding by the company’s Mission, Values and Purpose and instilling these qualities in all employees at the station;
  • Promoting and adhering to our safety and respectful workplace culture and instilling this culture in the station employees while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance with all provincial and federal rules and regulations;
  • Assist with recruitment and retention, onboarding, performance management, employee training and development and positive employee relations for the station;
  • Monitor operations and weather to determine necessary staffing levels, manage schedules for staff and delegate, realign and cross train staff to improve productivity;
  • Provide training to all employees in the proper operations of re-fueling and fuel farm management procedures;
  • Work with the station management in planning, implementing and supervising a regular program of maintenance of all fueling equipment;
  • Develop, maintain and ensure that employees follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) and that Inland Aircraft Fueler’s are in compliance with environmental laws, guidelines and reporting;
  • Take proper measures to ensure that aircrafts are re-fueled properly, and airline requirements are met;
  • Uphold and follow the duties related to operating and maintaining fueling vehicles, tank farm and other associated equipment according to procedures for both airlines and Inland/ IDS;
  • Perform/complete other additional projects, duties, and assignments as required and/or by request.

Please Note: This position requires a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) and an Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP).

Qualifications:

Interested candidates will have demonstrated expertise in the following required skills and experience:
  • 5+ years of airline operational experience including but not limited to customer service, maintenance, re-fueling operations, facility requirements and safety/regulatory requirements;
  • Successful completion of post-secondary education in Aviation Management, Business Management or related field of study;
  • Previous supervisory and/or management experience;
  • Mathematical competence with ability to:
    • Add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s;
    • Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals;
    • Compute rate, ratio and percent.
  • Valid Class 3 Canadian Driver’s License and driving record that meets Company insurance standards;
  • Flexible schedule;
  • Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, and Excel);
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to listen to others and value opinions, interpret information, promote and execute ideas, prepare reports and presentations, lead groups and provide a foundation of open communication;
  • Willing to learn new skills and adapt to change in order to support the growth of the company and meet needs of customers.

In this job, you can expect to “get your hands dirty” when you are leading your team in the hands-on operation of our aircraft re-fueling and tank farm management operations. Other physical demands include but are not limited to:
  • Standing, walking, sitting and using your hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls as well as reaching with your hands and arms;
  • Speaking clearly and fluently in English;
  • Ability to hear efficiently;
  • Ability to climb 15-foot heights;
  • Comfortable working in an extended bucket attached to a boom of a deicing truck at greater than 15 feet in height;
  • Ability to clearly see close-up and at a distance with ability to differentiate colour; use peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus;
  • Wearing of personal protective equipment when required and full mobility allowing for freedom of movement in high-risk environment.
