The Canadian Animal Blood Bank is a not-for-profit (CRA registered charity) that saves the lives of dogs across Canada by leading education in transfusion medicine and making the highest quality blood products available to veterinarians and dog owners. The CABB is looking for a motivated and creative individual to join our team full-time. As an administrative assistant for the CABB, you will be responsible for providing administrative support in the day-to-day operations of the CABB while assisting in our communications and social media strategy as well as the distribution of life-saving blood products. Our team will support you as we work together to help save dogs’ lives across Canada.

Principal Duties

In your role as a dynamic team member with the CABB you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Operations and Foundation Board of Directors in preparing and distributing Board materials
  • Assist with customer care, maintenance of donor records, and organization of filing systems
  • Acquiring social media content and assisting in the development of training videos
  • Performing general administrative duties, including filing, digitizing records, answering phones, email correspondence, recording meeting minutes, and data entry
  • Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Promote community awareness of CABB by assisting with fund development activities and contributing to the development of promotional materials
  • Support the maintenance of the CABB website and other digital platforms
  • Assist with the packaging and shipping of life-saving products

Qualification Requirements

If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have the knowledge and/or previous experience providing administrative and communications support in an office environment including:

  • An associates degree or diploma in an Administrative Office Assistant program or the equivalent experience required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in communications (e.g., photography, social media, film editing, blog writing) an asset
  • Strong technological skills and experience working with Facebook and Instagram
  • Working knowledge of database software programs, spreadsheets, and general office procedures (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Professional and responsible with exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills
  • Motivated and able to work flexible hours as necessary, including some weekends and evenings
  • Drivers’ license with an insured vehicle for transportation for these responsibilities
  • Enthusiasm and experience interacting with dogs
  • Ability to lift 25kg and greater than 25kg with assistance
  • French Bilingual preferred but not required
  • Experience with QuickBooks and inventory management systems.
