Currently, Connelly & Koshy is looking to fill the position ofAccounting Manager. Reporting to the Senior Partner this full-time role is responsible for planning and directing the day-to-day activities of our accounting team.


Please note that this is a hybrid position based onsite in our Ottawa, Ontario office. Occasional travel may be required.


Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • With the help of the Senior Accountants, oversee and manage operations of the team, including preparation of working paper files, financial reporting, and preparation of personal and corporate tax returns for our clients.

  • Support Partners with providing superior client service, and the ongoing oversight of corporate and personal accounts, ensuring client needs are satisfied in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Keep informed of current developments and effectively apply knowledge to client situations, thoroughly and accurately analyzing information.

  • Act as the main point of contact for clients needs: prepare practical and effective approaches to individual client-specific situations and arrive at appropriate conclusions.

  • Coordinate more complex accounting projects and initiatives.

  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing coaching, ongoing feedback, and opportunities for development.

  • Recruit and hire additional staff and coop students.

  • Coordinate training programs for new staff and identify training needs for existing staff.

  • Actively identify opportunities to streamline existing processes, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Oversee the production of financial reports; ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.

  • Audit accounts to ensure compliance with provincial regulations; coordinate with outside auditors and provide needed information for the annual external audit.

  • Perform all other related duties as necessary or assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal, management, and supervisory skills.

  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral and presentation).

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to see “big picture” and prioritize tasks of competing urgency.

  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Has solid understanding of increasingly complex tax and accounting concepts.

  • Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software (Caseware, Tax Prep, QuickBook and Simply Accounting would be considered an asset).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with both junior and senior staff.


MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.

  • 5 years or more of related experience required.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.

  • Previous experience as a manager or senior accountant in an accounting firm strongly preferred.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Interest in the CPA In-depth Tax Program or currently enrolled in the program would be considered to be an asset.
