Job Title: Accounting Manager - Canada Operations
Department:Finance
Reports to:Director of Finance, Canada
Status: Exempt
Date:9/1/2023
Objective:
To direct the activities of the accounting department to include a hands-on management approach to the general ledger system, financial reporting, accounts payable, financial compliance with both US and Canadian GAAP. To be the go-to person for transactions relating to Canada’s day to day operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
- Certified Public Accountant (preferred)
- 3+ more years of relevant managerial experience
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Handle multiple tasks/projects at once and meet daily/monthly deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in Microsoft office applications, such as Excel, Word, Power Point and Access required
Responsibilities:
- Manage accounting function of two legal entities in Canada with registrations in Ontario and Quebec provinces.
- Supervise a team of seven professional accounting employees (three direct reports).
- Maintain the general ledger system and direct all activities of the monthly financial closing.
- Initiate process improvements around the integration of reservations systems to Netsuite.
- Manage the preparation and filing of month, quarter, and annual Canadian statutory reporting requirements (income, VAT, RST, QST, HST, etc) and other regulatory bodies (TICO, OPC, etc)
- Spearhead year-end financial audit and point of contact of the external auditors.
- Assist with treasury management services and liaise with bank representatives.
- Provide financial analysis and participate in finance projects as needed.
- Maintain and update overall department task list and professional development of staff.

- Ensure milestones/goals are met and adheres to guidelines from US Headquarters.
