Accounting Clerk

We are the Kennedy Group of Companies consisting of petroleum products wholesalers for Petro-Canada and fuel transportation services providers serving customers and locations throughout Manitoba under our affiliated names Kennedy Energy, Janico Investments Ltd, and Northway Bulk Fuel. We are currently seeking a highly dedicated and "can-do" individual to join the team at our head office Winnipeg.

As an integral member of our administrative team, you will be a well-organized and highly efficient individual with excellent attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will perform full-cycle accounting and related administrative duties with primary responsibilities in Accounts Payables:

  • Assemble and review vendor invoices to be completed for payment.
  • Verify invoices against purchase orders and identify and resolve any questionable invoice items, prices or receiving signatures before payment.
  • Record all vendor invoices and payments and code per accounting policies and procedures into accounting system.
  • Maintain current records and ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors.
  • Efficiently prepare other daily paperwork including customer invoices and transactions.
  • Reconcile appropriate general ledger accounts, readily identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships and promptly address any customer or vendor issues.
  • Maintain an organized and up to date filing system for all accounts receivables, payables and related documents.
  • Reconcile bank transactions, maintain capital asset, pre-paid expense, and other schedules as required.
  • Ensure on-time completion of all month-end and year-end processes.
  • Produce and prepare reports as required for management.
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of all company information at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 2 + years experience in a similar role in full cycle accounting.
  • Completion of an accounting diploma or certificate highly beneficial.
  • Proven proficiency in accounting principles and lifecycle accounting.
  • Established skills in Microsoft Office and Accounting software, particularly QuickBooks and Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy is essential.
  • Must be well-organized, able to multi-task and be flexible to take on new tasks.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and be a good team member.
  • Background or interest in the petroleum products or transportation industry an asset.
