Edelman Toronto
is looking for an Account Director to play a major role on our Brand practice. We need a strategic, confident and detailed manager, who can be a strong backbone for the retail team. You must have an eagle eye for editing, a quick learning curve, be able to grasp complex issues and processes, and show knowledge and curiosity in order to offer qualified opinions on how to translate our clients’ visions into reality. You’ll have strong communications and marketing experience working with Canadian retail clients specifically with earned media.

Qualifications:

    • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university is preferred
    • Strong understanding of the traditional, social and digital markets as it relates to consumer brands, with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in PR/Communications; preference will be given to candidates with relatable industry experience and/or knowledge
    • Strong organizational and project management skills, with proven ability to manage multiple sizable accounts simultaneously, and multiple stakeholders such as clients in numerous time zones and external agency partners
    • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with demonstrated ability to write across a wide variety of platforms
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively multitask, delegate and manage assignments and accurately evaluate the work of others
    • Familiarity with best practice communications tactics and public relations tools, ability to appropriately recommend them and lead the execution of all related projects in house
    • Ability to act as a client contact and to be responsible for client-related finance management, including managing large projects within budget
    • Enthusiasm and eagerness to join a challenging and rewarding account; ability to motivate and inspire more junior team members demonstrate behaviors consistent with Edelman’s values (Quality, Integrity, Respect, Entrepreneurial Spirit, Mutual Benefits) and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct
    • Demonstrated experience developing and executing strategic integrated communications campaigns for consumer clients/brands
    • Ability to develop trusted client relationships, proactively identifying organic growth opportunities and business solutions
    • Deep experience spearheading and leading new business pitch development
    • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing successful, results-oriented earned and digital communications programs, as well as influencer/advocacy initiatives
    • Excellent business manager, able to effectively manage the resourcing and financial management of multiple clients and teams
    • A consummate team player who brings a passionate, positive and high-energy approach to client service, team management and delivering results

Key Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the client relationship manager and primary day-to-day contact and trusted advisor for some of our largest clients
    • Own and drive the creative and strategic process for clients while leading and managing a cross functional team, and clients, through the project planning and execution process
    • Develop and integrate marketing and communication plans for key target audiences, based on sound strategic insights
    • Develop brand and messaging platforms and build effective programs for launching and supporting brands using fully integrated programs
    • Demonstrate practical and advanced understanding of all facets of the communications marketing mix including digital, social media, in-store, visual content, earned media and advertising
    • Support Practice Lead in pursuing and leading new business opportunities, administration and team management
    • Provide leadership in the areas of total account management, including day-to-day account activity and the provision of strategic guidance and counsel to clients that will assist clients in meeting their business objectives
    • Mentor, coach and support all team members
    • Strong understanding of core financial constructs including revenue, profitability, pricing structures (hourly vs. retainer accounts), utilization, realization, budgeting and forecasting
