Northwood is currently accepting applications for an Environmental Service Worker (ESW) for our Bedford location.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Support Services, and Manager, Support Services, the ESW performs various cleaning functions in assigned areas.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans common area and house floors
  • Assists with setups for special functions
  • Deep cleans resident rooms
  • Collects and transports garbage and recycling
  • Maintains cleanliness, orderliness, and general repair of equipment and work area
  • Performs periodic floor, and carpet maintenance by established procedures and prescribed techniques
  • Receives goods from suppliers, checks and puts orders away in the proper location in a timely manner, and rotates inventory as new stock is received
  • Follows safe work practices for chemical use including proper labeling, storage, and use.
  • Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other work areas so that health standards are met
  • Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Previous experience in Environmental Services preferred
  • Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and follow through on specific instructions
  • Able to lift, pull, push, and move heavy equipment and heavy furniture regularly
  • Able to work well with others including co-workers, supervisors, and residents.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • WHMIS training is considered an asset
  • Must be able to maintain regular and consistent attendance

Hours of Work: 16 Hours Biweekly
