About The Opportunity

The Environmental Services Worker contributes toward the protection against cross infection while keeping the facility safe and visibly clean and is responsible for the provision of a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive environment for patients, residents, visitors and staff. Duties of the position may include any or all duties outlined in the Environmental Services Worker position description. In addition to being readily available on short notice, the position requires availability for all shifts, including weekends and holidays.

The duties of the Environmental Services Worker will be carried out in accordance with the principles and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
  • Grade 12/GED or equivalent work experience required.
  • Ability to use sound judgement and initiative.
  • Experience working with individuals with diverse intellectual / physical challenges.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships with all levels of staff and patients/residents.
  • Ability to hold in confidence all matters pertaining to patients, staff, co-workers and the hospitality.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends on short notice for room cleaning and moving of heavy furniture.
  • Good reading and writing skills.
  • Previous hospital housekeeping and room cleaning experience would be a definite asset.
  • Travel may be required between sites. Access to a reliable vehicle is required.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

  • Permanent, Part-Time (40%) position; 30 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives

$17.60 - $18.34 Hourly
