Job Description

Please note that this is a contract position from September 7, 2021 to November 30, 2021 at the Albian site. The schedule is 7x7 with 12 hour shifts. Only candidates living in or around Fort McMurray will be invited for interview. No fly in/out offered.

Please note that successful candidate will have to complete Drug & Alcohol Testing, provide a clear 5 year Driver's Abstract, complete a Criminal Background Check and provide 2 professional References

A day in the life of an SGS Canada Environmental Monitor (Tailings Operations)
  • Working with a team of Bird Monitors and Operators, complete routine operational and maintenance duties to support Bird and Wildlife deterrent projects on/around the tailings ponds.
  • Set up and Maintenance of Bird deterrent equipment.
  • Handle/Carry propane tanks and other operational equipment as necessary.
  • The individual could be working from a boat, barge or truck frequently.
  • Ability to work long hours in adverse weather conditions
Qualifications
  • Must have a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be self-motivated, work well independently and in a team, work well under pressure
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Must possess and maintain a Safety Certificate: OSSA BSO or CSO
  • Proven ability to work in a physically demanding role
  • Ability to work long hours in adverse weather conditions. Extended hours may be required from time to time
  • Preference given to candidates who are mechanically inclined
