Candidate Profile:

As a member of the Structural team, the Engineer-in-Training will be responsible for the structural analysis, structural design and construction oversight of components of buildings including high-rise and residential towers, parking facilities and recreation facilities. The role requires a goal oriented individual who is able to work independently with little supervision, and has the ability to focus and complete multiple tasks within specified time limits. Experience with concrete and steel is fundamental; experience with mass timber, masonry and/or concrete tilt-up construction is an additional asset.


The successful candidate is a self-motivated, fast learner with the desire to continually learn and grow. A commitment to providing exceptional client service and developing technical expertise to deliver practical, creative solutions is essential


Key Responsibilities:

Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare detailed structural design of buildings including commercial, residential, institutional and sports/recreation complexes, and bridges
  • Assist with development of preliminary structural design concepts
  • Work with the project team from conceptual and preliminary stages of design through to completion
  • Assist with design checks for other engineers’ work (portions of projects)
  • Ensure quality compliance for your portions of projects by maintaining design/checking notes


Professional Qualifications:


Education:

  • Degree in civil engineering program from accredited university, completed with structural design and analysis electives.
  • Registered Engineer-In-Training with APEGA.


Experience:

  • 0-1 years of experience in a structural engineering firm.
  • Knowledge of structural design in steel and concrete structures is preferred.
  • Experience with the construction of steel and concrete structures is preferred.


Skills:

  • Ability to conceptualize design with an understanding of constructability.
  • Strong attention to detail and produce error-free, high quality output.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge with structural software SAP, SAFE or ETABS is preferred
  • Committed to client service and technical excellence
