Status: Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Location: Based in Calgary or Edmonton, willing to consider other locations for the right candidate

At Sustainable Projects Group we focus on clean energy technology deployment in the built environment and have highly engaged and experienced staff to deliver projects to our clients that make a meaningful impact in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, lowering utility costs, and improving the functionality of all facility types. We work with our clientele to help identify clean energy & energy conservation opportunities within their facilities and work closely with them to bring these projects to life through consulting, engineering, and construction. We are a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, technologists, tradespeople, software developers, and construction managers.

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Registered Energy Advisor to join our team and provide EnerGuide home evaluations and energy modelling services in Alberta, Canada. SPG currently has a large backlog of Energuide home assessments to complete throughout Alberta and is looking for an energetic individual to help complete home assessments and eventually transition into an Energy Analyst role.

As a Registered Energy Advisor, you will play a crucial role in helping homeowners understand their energy consumption patterns, identify areas for improvement, and develop customized energy efficiency plans. Your expertise will contribute to reducing energy consumption, lowering utility bills, and promoting sustainable practices within the community.

Responsibilities:

Conduct EnerGuide Home Evaluations: Perform comprehensive energy assessments on residential properties using the EnerGuide rating system.

Collect and analyze data related to building characteristics, equipment, appliances, insulation, and ventilation systems to determine energy efficiency levels.

Energy Modeling: Utilize specialized software tools to simulate energy consumption and model potential energy-saving measures. Generate reports and recommendations based on energy modelling results.

Provide Energy Efficiency Advice: Communicate evaluation findings and energy efficiency recommendations to homeowners in a clear and understandable manner.

Offer practical suggestions and cost-effective solutions to improve energy performance and reduce environmental impact.

Develop Energy Efficiency Plans: Collaborate with homeowners to create personalized energy efficiency plans based on evaluation results and their specific needs. Outline recommended upgrades, retrofits, and behavioral changes that will enhance energy efficiency and conservation.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of evaluations, data, and recommendations.

Prepare detailed reports summarizing evaluation results, energy modelling analysis, and proposed energy efficiency measures.

Stay Current with Industry Trends: Keep abreast of the latest developments, technologies, and regulations in the energy efficiency field.

Attend workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.

Building Relationships: Establish and maintain positive relationships with homeowners, contractors, builders, and relevant industry stakeholders. Provide ongoing support and guidance throughout the implementation of energy efficiency measures.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations set forth by the Alberta energy efficiency programs and agencies.

Requirements:

Certified as a Registered Energy Advisor in Alberta, Canada.

In-depth knowledge of residential building systems, energy efficiency principles, and sustainable practices.

Familiarity with the EnerGuide rating system and energy modelling software tools.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify energy-saving opportunities.

Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information to homeowners and stakeholders.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy and precision in data collection and analysis.

Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and energy modelling software.

Valid driver’s license to travel to various job sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Must be certified NRcan energy advisor.

· Previous experience conducting EnerGuide home evaluations and energy modelling services.

· Familiarity with Alberta’s energy efficiency programs, incentives, and regulations.

· Experience using Hot2000 software.

· Must possess clean class 5 drivers lisence.

· Must be comfortable with traveling throughout Alberta to conduct home audits.
