The ABB Measurement & Analytics plant in Québec is the world leader in spectroscopy. Our Contract Engineering Department is Canada’s largest supplier of space optical sensors used, among other things, for greenhouse gas emissions monitoring and weather forecasting worldwide. Our plant is also known for its expertise in the development and manufacture of various products that make it possible to meet several industrial analysis needs on a daily basis.

By joining one of the largest engineering departments in Québec, you will actively contribute to the activities of a dynamic and stimulating multidisciplinary team.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design and update of the electronic systems of the ABB products, for the Measurement and Analysis products of the Process Automation (PA) division, thus ensuring the highest level of quality for our industrial products as well as our space and defence (SDS) products.

Reporting to the supervisor of the electronics group, you will work as an electronic designer within the electrical engineering team (Electronics Group).

Your responsibilities
  • Carry out the design and development of electronic circuits that can include modeling and simulation, both digital and analogue.
  • Carry out the selection of electronic parts.
  • Carry out the design of embedded software (microcontroller, FPGA) as well as test software (Python).
  • Participate in the drafting of the design documentation, technical budgets as well as of test and start-up documentation.
  • Participate in the start-up and testing of the electronic boards.
  • Participate in the multidisciplinary design reviews and, at various stages, present the progress of the work.
  • Actively participate and collaborate in the tasks relative to planning and technical proposals (estimation).
  • Participate in the application of the safety standards (CE, CSA, ATEX), environmental standards (RoHS, WEEE), and electromagnetic compliance standards (CE, FCC).
Your background
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or DCS in programmable electronics and robotics (TSO).
  • Good analytical skills and understanding of electronic circuits.
  • Knowledge of Python programming.
  • Knowledge of C/C+ programming on microcontroller.
  • Be skilled in the prototyping and start-up of electronic boards.
  • Good knowledge of French and English, spoken and written.
  • Advanced knowledge of VHDL programming (an asset).
  • Be skilled in prototyping and start-up of electronic boards.
  • Knowledge of the following software, an asset: Altium Designer, Pspice, Matlab.
  • Good knowledge of French and English, spoken and written.
