Plains Midstream Canada is currently is looking to fill the position of Electrical Journeyperson at our Empress South facility near Medicine Hat, AB. As a member of the Empress Maintenance Operations Team, the successful candidate’s duties will include, but are not limited to, performing and overseeing the daily and maintenance activities in accordance with company standards, policies and procedures.
This is a position which requires a shift schedule of 9 hours, 4 days per week (every second Friday off).
Responsibilities
- Ensuring the operation of electrical systems and equipment by completing preventive and corrective maintenance on MCC’s, PLC’s, Variable frequency drives, Motors, transformers, and equipment wiring;
- Follow electrical codes, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications related to the electrical trade.
- Install, replace and repair electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels.
- Troubleshoot Electrical circuits within the Operating Facility.
- Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records on electrical circuits within a plant atmosphere
- Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on UPS systems.
- Providing technical input and scope development for operations, projects and turnarounds;
- Completing all written and electronic records (i.e. work orders, calibration sheets, time cards, material requests) required to document the work in progress and as it is completed;
- Consulting manufacturer’s manuals, circuit diagrams and blueprints to determine tests and maintenance procedures.
- Strong focus on safety and accepts responsibility for their safety performance;
- Complying with Occupational Health & Safety Regulations as well as facility standards and procedures; and
- Providing on-call support during non-business hours.
- Completion of your Certified Red Seal Electrician ticket is required
- Completion of your Red Seal Instrumentation Technician ticket is an asset
- Minimum High School graduate;
- 5 – 10 years prior gas plant, refinery, pipeline or oilfield experience is required;
- Permanent primary residency within 120 KM of the facility is required
- Basic computer skills with knowledge of MS Word / Excel and e-mail; and
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills are required.
- Valid driver’s license (Class 5) with a clean abstract;
- Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks;
- Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing; andCompliance with the Company’s requirement to be clean shaven to ensure proper fit of emergency PPE.
