MANAGEMENT POSITION
Permanent Full-Time – 40 Hours per Week

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The successful applicant will work with the Director of Economic Development and Tourism to create an environment that is focused on encouraging business development, retention and expansion to boost the local economy, foster effective relationships and partnerships with key business and community development stakeholders, and play a role in tourism product development and marketing. The successful applicant will take a lead role in all aspects of external funding opportunities and work to both enhance the quality of life of residents and increase non-resident visitation through improvements to tourism infrastructure and marketing initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

– Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics or a related field;
– Graduate work in the above disciplines or a Certificate in Economic Development would be an asset;
– Five (5) years’ work-related experience in economic development or a related field;
– Any equivalent combination of professional experience combined with relevant education or training acceptable to the Town may be considered.

SKILLS

– Experience in aspects of economic development including, but not limited to, business attraction, retention, and expansion; tourism; and community development;
– Exceptional skills in research and analysis;
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
– Ability to interact with a variety of audiences with tact and diplomacy;
– Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment;
– Excellent computer skills;
– Experience in preparing and submitting funding applications.

The successful applicant must provide a copy of official educational documents confirming education requirements, employment references, a Certificate of Conduct and Drivers Abstract prior to commencement.
