ABOUT US:

Our team is growing & looking for another superstar member who is devoted to the field of ECE, and loves working with young children! ADE is a preschool and child development centre offering a unique inclusive education program for children 18 months to 5 years. The centre offers 3 distinct programs, Early Learning (18 months - 3 years), Junior Pre-k (3-4 years) and Pre-kindergarten (4-5 years). ADE centre collaborates with professionals to offer on-site therapy services for children who require the additional support. The centre is located in the peaceful & historical neighbourhood of Vieux Ste-Dorothee, Laval. The centre is close to major highways 13, 440 and 15, and access to public transportation (city bus and train).

ROLE:

Our early childhood educators lead preschool programs for groups of 8 to 10 children in a classroom setting. Early childhood educators are experts in child development, education, and classroom management. Early childhood educators are responsible for their own curriculum planning and preparation for their classroom group. Our educators participate in continuous professional development and work under the supervision of our pedagogical consultant.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be fluently bilingual (French & English)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (French & English)
  • Ability to use technology in the classroom & for planning purposes
  • Physical capacity to bend, run, jump, and lift a child up to 30 lbs, as required

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 1+ year of experience teaching in a preschool / daycare setting
  • Candidates must have completed a College or University level degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field
  • Candidates must have completed an internship or have volunteer experience in an ECE setting

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid CPR certification for daycare & early childhood settings (includes allergy component for treating anaphylaxis)
  • Valid police background check (less than 3 years old)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Provide children with an educational, safe, and healthy learning environment
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
  • Manage groups of children in an organized, safe and well-planned fashion
  • Early learning program: 8 children per 1 educator
  • Junior / Pre-kindergarten program: 10 children per 1 educator
  • Implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
  • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
  • Follow allergy protocol and careful administration of foods during mealtimes
  • Apply first aid protocol and treatment, as required
  • Maintain the cleanliness and order of the classroom and centre
  • Maintain a valid CPR first aid certification approved by the MFA (8-hr course for daycare settings)
  • Maintain a clean police background check (verified every 3 years by ADE)
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss children’s progress and challenges
  • Works under the direct supervision of the pedagogical specialist / program supervisor and director
  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
  • Ensure up-to-date lesson plans using the school’s software application (Brightwheel)
  • Ensure proper planning for daily activities and lessons, including materials required are available and ready to use in the classroom prior to the lessons
  • Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
  • Prepare daily reports via Brightwheel software system, or any other system of communication used in the centre
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  • Submit written / digital observations on children

SALARY RANGE: We compensate according to the Quebec Family Ministry Salary Scale for Early Childhood Education staff - based on qualifications & level of experience.
