The Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is the largest Centre for Education in Atlantic Canada with approximately 11,000 full-time, part-time and casual employees. Serving 53,000 students in 135 schools, our geographic region spans a 350 km radius.

Currently Hiring: Early Childhood Educators

HRCE is inviting qualified Early Childhood Educators interested in opportunities for the 2021-22 school year to apply to positions available in a number of our 135 school locations Term and Permanent positions are available.

The Pre-Primary Program is a play-based program that supports young children’s development and lays the foundation for school success and lifelong learning.

Early Childhood Educators who meet the following criteria may be eligible for a Lead ECE position:

• An undergraduate degree with a specialization in early childhood development or an undergraduate degree and a two year diploma in Early Childhood Education
• ECE Level 3 classification
• Recent experience (within past 5 years) working with pre-school children
• Current certification in First Aid

· Training and/or experience in a play based learning environment is an asset

• Experience in a leadership role in an early learning environment is an asset
• Valid Nova Scotia Driver’s license is an asset

Early Childhood Educators who meet the following criteria may be eligible for a Support ECE position:

• A diploma, certificate or degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution with a minimum
• ECE Level 2 classification, or ECE Level 1 classification combined with a minimum of one (1) year experience working with pre-school children in a childcare environment
• Recent experience (within past 5 years) working with pre-school children
• Current certification in First Aid
• Training and/or experience in a play-based learning environment is an asset

Salary:

Early Childhood Educators are members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 5047 (CUPE).

· Lead Early Childhood Educators (work 35 hours per week) - $47,252.03 annually

· Support Early Childhood Educators (work 30 hours per week) - $28,929.38 annually

HRCE also offers a comprehensive pension and benefit package.

Part-time hours: 35 per week

Expected start date: 2021-09-01
