Position: Residential Driver.

Location: Lethbridge, AB.

Are you a skilled driver with a commitment to safety and efficiency? GFL Environmental is seeking a dedicated Residential Driver to join our team in Lethbridge, AB. As a key member of our waste removal services, you will play a crucial role in collecting and transporting solid waste and recyclables while upholding our standards for safety and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a residential/recycling collection truck, utilizing side-load and/or rear-load methods.
  • Load solid waste, yard waste, and/or recyclables into the waste collection vehicle.
  • Compact trash efficiently using prescribed techniques.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and complete required documentation.
  • Communicate vehicle mechanical issues promptly to supervisors and mechanics.
  • Maintain route quality standards and follow safety regulations.
  • Identify and tag prohibited waste items, removing them from waste carts.
  • Manage assigned Helper(s) if applicable.
  • Adhere to all federal, state/provincial, local, and company safety rules.

Requirements:

  • Class 3 Driver’s License required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of commercial driving experience OR CDL school certificate.
  • Ability to meet safety criteria for sensitive functions according to company standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely drive a truck and operate equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of truck components and basic maintenance for safe operation.
  • Proficient in maneuvering trucks in tight spaces using mirrors.
  • Ability to recognize and handle unacceptable waste materials.
  • Effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • Reading, writing, and comprehension of associated documents and maps.
  • Physical ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds using proper techniques.
  • Compliance with all company safety policies and procedures
