Include some sample residential plans you have made, specifically semi-detached, 4-6 unit homes/buildings, plans that have been built in Canada, if you have something in Calgary, even better.

About the role:

We are looking for a Drafter, Architectural Technologist. Depending on your skills and initative, we will work around each others’ schedules to make things work for all involved. You should be a self-starter, take initiative and love to learn!

Your Main role would be working as a drafter, based on skills some potential site visits and admin work.

If you are doing well with Drafting and we are keeping busy we will hire and additional team member to take on site visits or admin work.

What you would be doing day to day
- Create and review drawings that comply with Calgary building codes and requirements
- Search for and review potential land and properties to develop
- Communicating with contractors to make sure they understand the clients expectations and project scope
- Assisting with Quality control, inspecting contractor work to ensure high quality finishes
- Following design plans and mark-outs for various construction projects
- Project coordination: Assigning and finding contractors to complete jobs on schedule
- Ensuring building materials are available on site
- Site Security Daily check in
- Daily meetings with me for ongoing projects
- On site for city inspections, coordinating to ensure permits are provided

Other Potential Responsibilities:
- Meeting with new home owners, deciding on materials, colours, interior design options
- Working on gantt charts, flow charts for making sure projects are following a timeline

Must have requirements:
- Revit Autodesk experience with Calgary building codes or a willingness to learn quickly
- You don’t necessarily need construction experience, as we are willing to train the right candidate, but hands-on experience in any previous construction jobs is a good asset.
- Language Requirements: English, plus one of either Punjabi, Mandarin, Arabic is a plus
- Ability to communicate with contractors in one of the languages will be requirement of a job
- Fully licensed G driver, with clean driving record

Nice to haves:
- Creativity, exterior and interior design ideas
- Your own computer with software and programs required for plans and renderings
- Your own transportation or pick up truck would be an asset.
- Previous construction experience (even if you have done personal home jobs)
- Familiarity with Alberta building codes
