Job Description:

As a key member of the Retail Advice & Solutions finance team, the Director Reporting & Analysis will work independently and collaboratively with members of Retail Advice & Solutions within the business and finance & actuarial, Canadian Finance, Distribution, and Operations to deliver financial information, analysis and insights with outcome based results.

This role will be required to pivot easily between competing strategic priorities with a strong focus on relationship management and delivery of deep insights on drivers and outcomes. In addition, this role will also be required to balance the operational & analytical requirements of internal & LIMRA sales reporting for the Retail Advice & Solutions business related to Insurance products.

The scope and scale of this role requires a high level of strategic focused mindset, analytical insight, and operational efficiency. This role requires presence in our Waterloo office on a regular basis.

What will you do:

  • Overall responsibility for complete, accurate and timely monthly/quarterly/annual internal & LIMRA sales reporting for Insurance products accompanied by strong analysis of sales results
  • Serve as a point person in discussions with the user groups of sales data, in order to determine best practices and deliver value added information efficiently and effectively
  • Support Plan & Forecasting process & influence outcomes by collaborating with business partners to ensure relevant & insightful results
  • Ownership for development of overall quarterly QBR package including coordination with various contributors & crafting of insights
  • Distribution reporting & analysis for SLFD & IID distribution channels, including Prospr reporting & Retail Wealth Enablement
  • Responsible for Competitive Intelligence reporting as it relates to the Canadian Individual Insurance & Wealth (as relevant to SLFD) businesses for various competitors
  • Provide leadership and support for strategic projects/initiatives and develop processes and controls to incorporate results into efficient and effective operational procedures as applicable
  • Frequent interaction with senior and executive management, including formal presentation requirements
  • Champion and support creative solutions that focus on continuous improvement in the spirit of Finance Re-Imagined
  • Communicate effectively with senior management and ensure issues are raised and addressed in a timely manner

What do you need to succeed:

  • Strong Individual Insurance product knowledge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Sharepoint)
  • Experience with financial reporting tools (Longview, Hyperion, SAP)
  • Business knowledge and experience related to insurance and/or financial services industry
  • Post secondary education in Business, Finance or similar discipline and holds a higher level of education, preferably a professional accounting/finance designation with 7+ years of relevant experience in a senior financial role
  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders across the organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to explain difficult issues to audiences of different levels of understanding
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills to support data-driven decision making
  • Effective and strong leadership abilities to gain momentum through direct & indirect influence
  • Self-motivated and capable of handling conflicting priorities in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Experience in sourcing and working with large data sets to identify key insights and opportunities to enhance business performance.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
