How will you make an impact?

Leads in driving strategic change across the site, supports operating and business process improvements, growth and key continuous improvement initiatives while fostering operational and manufacturing excellence through the application of lean six sigma principles, develops enhanced capabilities throughout the organization, and creates a culture of continuous improvement. Challenges current performance and helps identify improvement opportunities through the use of appropriate tools and methods.

Is closely linked to the Corporate Practical Process Improvement function and assists, collaborates with and proposes new directions to the Corporate leader(s). As an agent of change, this position creates and implements change management plans that minimize employee resistance and maximize employee engagement, in order to drive faster adoption, greater ultimate utilization and higher proficiency on the changes impacting employees in the organization such that business results are achieved. This position is responsible for the deployment of applicable education and training. Contributes to the operational and financial performance of the sites.

What will you do?

  • Creates and fosters a process improvement culture by using the various methodology and tools such as: lean manufacturing, six-sigma, pull manufacturing, OEE, waste reduction, benchmarking, performance assessments and others.
  • Develops change management tools and processes for implementing and sustaining change.
  • Develops and assists in the education and training of staff, including the shop floor level, on PPI principles and any new concepts.
  • Develops site PPI strategy and deployment plan. Maintains projects on time and budget, reports to Vice President and General Manager on progress, manages expectations and risk, and ensures post-implementation benefits are measured
  • Builds relationships with site leadership team members to understand business objectives and priorities, and to develop supporting process improvement initiatives.
  • Stays abreast of new developments in business process improvement methodology and best practices, including learning from other market leaders and industries (on-going).
  • Selects, develops and evaluates staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Works with and advises staff on administrative policies and procedures.

How will you get here?

Education:

Bachelor of Science, Engineering, Business, other related university degree.


Experience:

Minimum 10 years of previous operational management experience (in Operations, Engineering, Quality, or Science/Development) or Operational Excellence experience at a leader level in food, cosmetics or pharmaceuticals.

Minimum 5 years experience managing direct reports.



Equivalency:

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Superior knowledge of operational excellence concepts and tools, such as value stream mapping, business process re-design, lean, six sigma, modeling and simulation, cycle time reduction, facility layout design, etc. Proven track record in leading major change initiatives, including managing / influencing stakeholders within varied levels, and functional areas, in an organization. Proven interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written). Strong organizational skills. Excellent presentation skills. Ability to liaise, negotiate and sell ideas to the most senior levels of the organization. Demonstrated ability to balance/maintain conflicting goals, responsibilities, and priorities of the organization. Demonstrated success as agent of change. Demonstrated business acumen (i.e., ability to understand key aspects of the company’s business strategy). Collaborative; encourages cross-functional cooperation and builds strong working relationships between the PPI and operating teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Proficiency with the English language.
