Duties/Responsibilities:
As a member of the leadership team, The Director of Guest Support & Empowerment is responsible for the strategic direction of The Gathering Place’s Guest Services division. Reporting to the Associate Executive Director, this position oversees the day-to-day operation of Guest Support services, the Guest Empowerment Program, and the Kindness Closet. Many of the Guests represent a marginalized segment of the population and face issues that make it difficult for them to access resources and services in the community; barriers such as mobility issues, mental health issues, and addictions. As such, the Director of Guest Support & Empowerment is responsible for planning and evaluating services to ensure that they are meeting Guest needs. The Director of Guest Support & Empowerment represents the organization as needed to ensure a collaborative approach in responding to the needs of marginalized populations.

  • Establishes relationships based on respect and trust with the Guest population in order to effectively understand and represent their interests
  • Cultivates community relationships to increase awareness and collaborative opportunities for TGP
  • Proactively monitors Guest needs for the purpose of program development/improvement
  • Oversees service delivery for Guests from the guest support team.
  • Liaises with government agencies and other organizations to ensure that Guests’ needs are met.
  • Represents The Gathering Place on committees and teams in order to advocate for Guest interests.
  • Acts as an ambassador for The Gathering Place within the community.
  • Collaborates with and supports the team at The Gathering Place, including attendance at staff meetings and supporting organizational initiatives.
  • Collaborates with The Director of Human Resources & Operations around the scheduling, hiring, training, and performance management of staff.
  • Reviews all incident reports and implements the appropriate follow-up actions for both staff and guests.
  • Conducts other duties as required to support The Gathering Place and its Guests.
  • Participates in the on-call roster, providing direction to overnight/weekend staff as needed
  • Responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of services to TGP Guests. Application of organizational policies and processes pertaining to guest and workplace safety is expected.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Health or Social Services related background
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a leadership role
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent supervisory, planning, organization, problem solving, decision making, liaison, and leadership skills
  • Strong program and evaluation skills
  • Ability to work independently while capable of collaboration within a multidisciplinary team
  • Clear Records of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector
