About Us


The DesignEd team supports the development of curriculum and digital media assets for education within the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Responsibilities


As a Digital Media Designer, you will work with clients to create instructional media content, which can include, but is not limited to, interactive modules, videos, and audio assets. In addition, Digital Media Designers will provide technical support, write documentation, and assist in training for using equipment in the media studio.

The incumbent will have responsibility for carrying out activities which require some specialization of skills. The incumbent will be responsible for providing support to faculty or staff, and for effectively carrying out a variety of tasks in accordance with policies, procedures, and instructions received from their supervisor. The incumbent will take guidance from their supervisor, and work productively and courteously with their work team and other members of the Western community.

Qualifications Education:

  • Must be a full-time student at Western (enrolled in minimum 3.5 courses), and expect to retain full-time student status for the duration of this appointment

Experience:

  • Successful candidates should be proficient in the following roles
  • Photographer (DSLR Cameras, Studio Lighting, Photoshop, lightroom)
  • Learning Module Developer (Storyline, Captivate)
  • Video Creator/Editor (Video DSLRs/Camcorders, Premiere, After Effects, Final Cut Pro)
  • Audio Producer (Recording Hardware, Audition, Audacity, Logic)

Additional Assets

  • Technical writing
  • Customer service experience Project management experience Training/teaching experience
  • Interest in new media and technologies

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • Written and verbal communication skills to express ideas clearly, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
  • Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation Reliable and dependable with the ability to consistently work assigned schedule
  • Ability to follow processes and practices with high attention to detail
  • Demonstrates integrity and works in accordance with Western’s policies and procedures Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized work environment
  • Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public Ability to prioritize and organize a fluctuating workload
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals Ability to work in a manner that is compliant with confidentiality requirements as applicable
