Our Development Engineering Department has an opportunity for a regular full-time Development Engineering Technician 1 to provide engineering technical and administrative support. You will evaluate and process the engineering servicing aspects of development and building permit applications to ensure conformance with municipal engineering standards and requirements. You will require and administer legal agreements relating to engineering servicing and encroachments onto DNV property. You will liaise with the public, utility companies, contractors and staff in order to provide a variety of technical information and assistance; and prepare estimates and work order requests for the installation of water services, sewer connections and street work.

You are self-motivated and have the ability to perform a variety of technical, liaison and administrative tasks; prepare estimates; prepare statistical or written reports and correspondence; read and interpret plans, drawings, reports and specifications; make arithmetic computations and calculations; establish and maintain effective working relationships and excellent communication with the general public, developers, consultants, contractors and staff; and perform tasks with limited supervision. Your time management skills are strong and you are able find practical solutions to complex problems.

You have some post-secondary technical engineering education and sound technical experience. Preference will be given to candidates possessing a Technical Certificate or Diploma in civil engineering or a related field. Infrastructure construction experience is an asset. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is required.

The pay range for this unionized position is $36.39 - $42.96 per hour based on a 35-hour work week.
