The Role of Development and Communications Leader is to work alongside the Leadership and fundraising teams to support activities in respect to fundraising and provide development resources to the community, including communication, outreach, fund development, branding, donor management and community partnerships. This is an 18 month contract.

Learn and understand the Identity and Mission of L’Arche; adhere to the core documents of L’Arche Stratford (e.g. key traditions, policies and procedures, the Charter of L’Arche, etc.); maintain confidentiality as required.
    Support the development of the Communication Plan that encompasses all aspects of the organization. The overall goal of the Communication Plan is to generate revenue for fundraising activities, promote programming, share the mission, and communicate with partners and donors. Maintain content on L’Arche Stratford’s social media platforms. Work collaboratively with respective roles in the community to integrate various social media needs. Work collaboratively with the Community Leader in planning, layout and design of annual report, newsletter, campaign mailings and other relevant media, print and communication materials. Including sourcing out articles, photos, and design content. Oversee the compilation and distribution of L’Arche Stratford newsletters and agendas. Adhere to the organization’s brand style guide, social media guidelines, policies and practices ensuring we produce quality and error free copy. Support overall marketing and promotions for L’Arche Stratford and seek to build new relationships with community partners. Help to create marketing materials to reach out to local partners such as schools, associations, and other agencies to help increase our activities programming participation. Update and reformat our existing website to reflect our mission, history, programming, accessibility points, and storytelling about our community life. Ensure stakeholders are aware of upcoming events and ways to donate online. Actively support the recruitment of new donors through social media and provide support to the Campaign Steering Committee in developing materials that support donor recognition and retention; Collaborate with community partners to promote and facilitate donor relationships. Support the donor management process. Monitor donor giving to ensure each donor is recognized and appreciated. Implement ongoing donor recognition activities, including support with planning events and recognition activities. Communicate effectively; follow the lines of communication; address conflict in a timely way. Participate in campaign and leadership meetings regularly and be available to attend other meetings and events as required, i.e., Campaign Cabinet Meetings, Activities Team Meetings, Coordination Team Meetings, AGM, etc.
  • Be an active member of the community, attending events for the purpose of sharing on social media. Develop meaningful relationships in the homes and community; be open to the spiritual life at L’Arche.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, public relations or a related field plus 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to identify with and promote the mission of L’Arche.
  • Work well in a team but have the initiative to work independently.
  • Be outgoing, self-motivated, and a strategic thinker with fresh ideas and an enthusiastic approach to their work.
  • Be organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Take a learning/growth-based approach to their work with strong analytical skills.
  • A criminal reference check including a vulnerable sector search.
  • Has a valid driver license (G).
  • Available for working on weekends and evenings, as needed.
