Important financial information:
  • Isolated Post Allowances (Northern Allowance) for Inuvik ranges from approximately $15,418 to $37,816 which is based on if the employee has dependents.
  • Vacation Travel Assistance is provided once a year for Inuvik of approximately $1,839 for each eligible member of the household.

Duties

A Detachment Services Assistant provides administrative and operational support services for police officers and other employees at a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment. This position also provides front counter and telephone assistance, services and information to the general public.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff two (2) permanent positions in Inuvik, NT.

A qualified pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions on an indeterminate, term or casual basis.

  • Successful completion of two years of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

  • Experience in the provision of clerical support services, including: data entry, preparing correspondence, and filing;
  • Experience using word processing and spreadsheet software;
  • Experience providing service to internal or external clients / general public, via telephone or in person.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Willingness and ability to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and /or graphic material;

  • RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status (ERS) security clearance.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.
