Deputy Supply Chain Manager

The Deputy Supply Chain Manager is accountable for planning, directing and controlling all procurement, handling, transport and inventory control activities regarding raw materials, equipment, services, spare parts and finished goods for the site while ensuring quality products are available on a timely basis at low cost and at the most favorable terms and conditions.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)
  • Provide Support to the Senior Supply Chain Manager
  • As a member of the Mill Management Team, participates in the leadership of the overall business of the mill.
  • Provides support to the development and implementation strategic and operational plans for the mill.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators and metrics for supply chain planning and forecasting; enact changes based on findings.
  • Regularly report on supply chain performance to Senior Supply Chain Manager.
  • Source and procure commodities, raw materials (except chips), services and other goods, ensuring they are available on a timely basis with favorable terms and consideration
  • Ensure high quality spare parts and operating supples are secure and available on a timely basis while maintaining low inventory levels for the entire site
  • Monitor truck and railcar outbound requirements and inbound supply to ensure reliable and cost effective distribution of product
  • Develop, support and maintain customer relationships through effective communication procedures
  • Provides leadership to the team and fosters an environment which motivates the team to fully use its capabilities in achieving desired business results
  • Maintains compliance with corporate and mill policies, procedures and controls for the procurement of goods and services.
  • Supervise a team of supply chain employees, including hiring, delegation, training, performance evaluation, disciplinary actions, and termination.
Requirements Include
  • 5 years of direct work experience in a supply chain management.
  • Undergraduate University degree ideally coupled with a project management or purchasing designation; such as PMAC or CPP
  • A track record of experience and success leading the procurement or supply management function within a large complex organization with advanced supply management business practices and a global supplier or customer base
  • Strong business acumen; demonstrated ability to provide highly effective support to the business by linking supply chain strategies to the organization’s need.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences and present financial information in an audience-appropriate manner
  • Demonstrated ability to act with high standards and integrity at all times
