Reporting to the Foreman, the Traffic Control will be responsible for all general flagger duties required on commercial projects. They will ensure work tasks are performed safely in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and company policies and that work is performed with a high level of quality and timeliness.


This position is based in the Vancouver, BC area on a client site.


Working Conditions


  • Shift schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm

  • Working around heavy equipment

  • Hazard awareness

  • Work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Personal safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.


Responsibilities


  • Responsible for the set-up, maintenance, and takedown of traffic signage.

  • Responsible for the safe and courteous movement of vehicles and personnel at the assigned job site.

  • Follow instructions from crew lead hand and foreman.

  • Review and participate in the preparation of safe work practices/procedures as required.

  • Other tasks and labour duties as required on the jobsite.


Qualifications


  • High school diploma

  • 1 year experience as a Flagger in the construction industry

  • TCP Flagger certification required

  • CSTS

  • WHIMIS

  • Ability to take direction and follow through on instructions

  • General construction safety knowledge

  • Committed dedication to safety; reflected in practice and experience

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Positive attitude towards safety

  • Ability to work collaboratively

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills

  • Superior focus on customer satisfaction

  • Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol testing required


Physical Requirements


  • Stand or walk for long periods of time

  • Ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for long periods of time

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Climbing stairs/ladders regularly

  • Exposure to hazards such as heights, power tools, slips, falls, falling objects, and sharp hand tools


Compensation and Benefits


  • Overtime is compensated per the collective agreement
