The incumbent is part of an application support team that installs, designs, develops, implements and maintains an integrated set of software systems to support all areas of Sheridan’s administrative operations. The primary responsibilities involve installation, support, implementation, development and upgrade of Sheridan’s corporate information systems. The incumbent investigates new or modified user requirements, designs and implements appropriate solutions, solves reported problems with existing systems and assists with the evaluation of new software applications. The incumbent’s primary responsibilities are system support as well as web application design and development. The core systems include Infosilem Timetabler & Enterprise, Academic Interface (AI), Caterease, Versatile Pro, Blue, Package Track, OSCAR, MainBoss and Cherwell, as well as the corresponding interfaces with the Student Information System (SIS) and various related smaller systems.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Providing technical support to maintain existing administrative systems including:
    • Troubleshooting system and application issues; tracking and monitoring the resolution of reported issues;
    • Contacting the vendor when needed, providing details of issues and works with the vendor to determine root causes and solution;
    • Applying patches and fixing from vendor as needed;
    • Collaborating with other team members and other technical staff within Information Technology (IT) to resolve issues;
  • Assessing and analyzing requests for enhancements, upgrades, and modifications to existing administrative systems and implements where feasible;
  • Analysing existing systems/system modules, business procedures and available technologies, to identify and define possible solutions. This includes analysis of the integration of the proposed solution with other applications, databases, and systems for seamless integration;
  • Maintaining, developing and sharing technical skills in rapidly changing environment;
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Your excellent problem-solving skills allow you to resolve issues and come up with improvements to existing processes.

The Successful Candidate Will Also Have
  • 3-year diploma/degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field along with a minimum of 3 years of structured systems design and development experience using relational databases (ideally Oracle and/or SQL Server) including a minimum of 2 years development experience working with VB, .Net, ASP, PHP, HTML, JavaScript, Bootstrap and Windows (equivalency will be considered).

Campus Location:
Trafalgar (may be assigned activities at any Sheridan campus) once normal campus operations resume. This position is currently working remotely.
